European Beta closed

31 Jan, 2005

The European Beta Test of City of Heroes has now closed and the work has begun to get the servers ready for the launch of the game later this week. The message boards have also been disabled, and will be restarted alongside the live servers.

We’d like to take this chance to thank everyone involved with the European Beta both here and over in the US, but most importantly, all of you who took part as beta testers. We hope you enjoyed your time in Paragon City - we know we did.

Don’t forget, if you’re looking to pre-order City of Heroes Deluxe edition before the February 4th release date, we have details on where to buy, and what’s in the box.

Also, there are a couple of new FAQs aimed specifically at beta testers that we’d recommend you take a look at, concerning using your beta message board account and using your beta client in the live version.

I’m enourmosly deluded by the end of the beta...There were talk about a end-of-beta event, even by the devs, but the only thing happened is a lvl 50 WL appearing in Atlas Park...I’ve been in the american beta, and there is no match with the invasion happened there...could you tell me what has gone wrong?

It was great! The lvl 50 Winter lords in Atlas park were a nice surprise.

I hope to see each and everyone I’ve played with during the course of the beta in the retail, even though due to the lack of quality of distribution in Eastern Europe (read: it’s non-existant), that is not going to happen :(.

I wish that it’s the servers update and you haven’t deleted my comment due to I was a dissapointed for the beta end.

Cutting the servers off at 5:00 was a bit harsh for those at work /images/smileys/rasberry.gif, and so was cutting of the message boards, would have been nice to have those for afew hours at the end /images/smileys/smile.gif.

So what happened at the end? Was there a big invasion like in the US beta?

It was all getting a bit insane on there towards the end with people levelling off Winter Lords like crazy (myself included! :D )

beta was great.... although end event was nothing compared tot he US rikiti invasion.....

i have a question..... well ive order the delux box and a 60 days time card.. the game has been sent out.. but the time cards arnt due to release until 4th? does this mean i wont be able to participate in the open day?

I had some ace fun and met some good people there to whilst I was in Paragon City, I ordered the game yesterday at amazon so you’ll see me around. Still no news on the comic?

Getting a bit close to release.

My game ships today from Amazon, so it’d have been nice to know what I was getting before I paid for it.  Which I’m only doing because account transfers and character transfers weren’t ready for launch.  Also becuase there was no name reservation on Euro beta like there was at end of US beta.

Shame you closed the forums too though… You could have left them open for us /images/smileys/smile.gif We didn’t even get the answer to the Ask Statesman questions! :D Oh well.. off to the US forums for now I guess…

Dammit, i hate this beta, it made me buy this totally awesome game :S :D

I hope i will get the game on feb. 4th, but knowing the services in Holland, i guess it will be march 4th.

I hope to see you in game again, I will probably be a healing/… - defender on one of the english servers.

OK, fair enough with the boards.. A shame but oh well… Have you purged the posts from the DB now or can you put them back up in a beta testers area of the new board?

Any news on if the beta testers will get some kind of badge or accolade or something in retail?  I know you guys don’t have to give us a thing, we did get to play for free for a few weeks, but it would be nice to have something to distinguish us from the new players /images/smileys/smile.gif

OK, what can i say?  Despite a rather diapointing end to the beta (why did the yanks get an invasion and all we got was a lvl 50WL????) I think i’ll go buy the game. It was fun teaming up and bashing the crooks. And to see so many ppl dancing and havin snowball fights was fun. I cant wait to see some of you in retail and team up again. the fact that the WoW playing smucks won’t be on the severs constaly broadcasting is a good thing.it means that real people can play the game and have llite loaded severs
