With regards to Bridger’s post about backing up CoH folder and copying the CoV Beta files into it, would that be identical to running the CoH updater from the CoV Beta folder? If so, it may save a bit of messing about. The reason I ask is that only the ‘backup’ CoH updater tries to connect a number of times - both of the updaters in the other two folders seem to stall at ‘Connecting’.

To make everyone feel better:

I just finished watching my i6 patch count down (again) since I finally connected after trying since lunchtime today - and we’re talking of a download estimate that started at 5 hours but took more than 7 - only to see the countdown timer actually reach zero, pause then reset to 14:59:59 and start ticking down again! What the hell are you doing? Where was the advance notice? Where was the explanation? Have you guys heard of email? I’ve also been reading the installation notes for new users. I’m embarrassed for the new users. It feels like this game is managed by children or as though you put zero thought into this.

If you have anyone responsible for this mess - which seems extremely unlikely considering the scale of it - they should be hung by the ankles from a suitably tall building in Skyway City and dropped into a whole pile of Pantheon crap.

how the hell are tankers meant to do their jobs where they need maximum damage resistance, sure my tank will be ok until i wear my current SO’s out and need a fresh set on everything

5 x Damage resistance on each shield and 1 x Endurance reduction on each.

and 6 x Enhance heal on healing flames.

somone explain to me how a tank is meant to do his job by being a meatshield when if i up my defence the effect of the power is weakened?

Thanks for the update.  Like a number of people I’m peeved that the game isn’t working as it should, but really… “Compensation!?!” We all know you’re doing your best and I would like to say thanks on behalf of all the moaners. Getting a wee bit depressing now. I can still not log on to even begin the download that will take me like forever to download.

can someone plz tell me why on earth i am now having to wait upto 19hrs as i have just waited 6hrs for the 1.5g download for the second time and it is just starting to become a bit of a joke!!!

still not sure if this works or not as the damn thing wont connect. Havent been trying constantly just on and off and not a dickie bird, let alone a troll.

Following the instructions above, my flatmates folder no longer has the maps and doesnt even get to the connect stage.

Looks like the US folk arent in a better position either, as been looking at their boards as these are still conveniently down and no update since over 2 hours ago!

Guys, I think you should relax. Nasty stuff happens. As my grandma used to say, ‘what are you lookin at?’ but that didnt stop me believen in tomorrow. I think it’s time we all had a nice glass of freezing bovril and a big hug. That’s it, all of us count to three and think of better times. Kiddies here need to calm down. New issues put a huge load on the servers. Buy more servers you say? That’s stupid, for about 1 days use every 5 months or so, and that cost would need to be added back into higher subs.

Oh dear, never mind. actually did something different last night and left my pc alone to download the update. now got 53 mins left to fix file and hopefully it will be ready when I come back from work /images/smileys/smile.gif

To be honest, its no surprise that the servers couldn’t cope with the update as anyone who was lucky enough to play CoV beta (and I was one) know how much of a leap in quality the changes introduced are. It was actually quite weird going from one to the other as the graphics on CoV are so much better than CoH. Lots of warm shades and detailed scenery with excellent power effects. It was such a joy playing the beta and I am so lost without robbing banks and kidnapping programmers…

Sorry to see that it all fell over at the last hurdle and I hope you guys get plenty of sleep today but these things happen in any system that has a major upgrade to the operating system. With the introduction of the new issue and the new game certain unexpected issues cropped up. At least the IT people were there ready and no doubt have worked like maniacs to put it right. Both games are gold and beyond so imagine how many folks were trying to download a patch at the same time. If I was the server trying to cope with that much traffic I think I would have gone and hid in a corner myself /images/smileys/smile.gif

Issue 6 should be good and followed by..... CoV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay.... the CoV Beta copy thing worked, thanks for the advice Bridger, just had an hour for it to patch the files which was cool and I’m pleased to see the game tweaks from CoV now in CoH /images/smileys/grin.gif

Hopefully my copy of CoV will arrive this morning so I will have a great weekend with my 2 day head start.
