Introduction
Creating your character - your heroic alter ego in Paragon City - is your first step in playing City of Heroes, and one of the most enjoyable tasks in the game.
Your very first choice, before you even start creating your first character, will be your choice of server.
There are four European servers to choose from at present, two running the game in English (Defiant and Union), the other two in French (Vigilance) and German (Zukunft). You are free to choose whichever server you like to play on, but bear in mind that once a character is created on one server, they will have to stay there.
You should also realise that while the servers (and hence, the in-game content) run in a preset language, you can choose the language of your in-game interface from the Updater program that runs when you start City of Heroes. Patch the game (if necessary) and click ‘Next’; on the second screen you can click the ‘Language’ button to choose between an English, French or German language in-game interface.
Once you have selected your language and clicked ‘I Agree’ then you’ll need to log in to City of Heroes using your game Account Name and Account Password. You’ll then be presented with the server selection screen. Choose a server, and you’ll see you have eight empty character slots to choose from. You can create up to eight heroes on each server, and you may delete them at any time to make way for new ones if you wish.
Select a slot, click ‘Create Character’ and let’s begin creating your first hero!
