Boomtown on Beta
Gaming site Boomtown has posted the first installment of its Tales from Paragon City, a diary of the City of Heroes European Beta. Author Alan Paterson is a newcomer to City of Heroes, and seems to be enjoying himself:

The Council invades America!
Players of the US version of City of Heroes got to celebrate the start of the new year in style yesterday, with the release of the long-awaited third update for the game. Issue #3: A Council of War was freed from the ‘Training Room’ test server and unleashed on the live servers last night.
An excellent vintage
2004 certainly hasn’t been without its ups and downs, but it has brought us all some truly excellent games, a fact celebrated by The Associated Press in its round-up of the best and worst releases of the year, where City of Heroes comes a close second to the mighty Half-Life 2:
Finally, a maker of massively multiplayer online games got it right. “City of Heroes” tossed the dungeons and dragons in favor of superhero tights. It also dispatched with many of the genre’s grueling “leveling up” aspects and let gamers do what they really want: band together with dozens of others to battle villains.
The story has been picked up by several major news networks in America, including ABC News - you can read the whole article here.
